In Week 04 of Advanced 3D Computer Animation, Professor Ting Liu asked me worked on the Stitch Tea Party assignment. The session focused on technical workflow using Maya tools, particularly parent constraints and locators. Ting Liu explained how constraints allow objects to be linked and controlled in animation scenes, enabling smoother interaction between characters and props. Locators were used as reference points to control positioning and improve accuracy in animation setups.
Step 1: Developing the Animation
I applied these tools in the Stitch Tea Party task by experimenting with object connections and controlled movement systems. I used parent constraints to attach and manage object interactions within the scene, ensuring proper alignment and movement flow. The focus of the task was technical control rather than performance animation, so I concentrated on clean hierarchy and stable object relationships.
Step 2: Receiving the Feedback
After submitting my animation, I received encouraging feedback from Professor Ting that:
“It looks nice”
“you can add extra animation as well”
I reflected on this by simplifying constraint setups and improving how objects are organised within the scene hierarchy. I focused on understanding how technical structure supports animation stability. This week improved my understanding of how Maya’s constraint systems support controlled animation workflows.
