In Week 06 of Advanced 3D Computer Animation, Professor Ting Liu asked me to continue development on the Heavy Object and Change of Mind spline animation. Ting Liu reviewed my updated version and focused on how the animation was progressing from blocking into smoother motion. The session emphasised improving rotation control and solving issues related to Euler rotation problems in Maya.
Step 1: Rerecording the Reference
Step 2: Developing the Animation
I refined the animation by adjusting timing and smoothing transitions between key poses. I also improved camera alignment based on previous feedback to ensure clearer visual storytelling. The change of mind moment was further clarified through timing adjustments and motion refinement.
Step 3: Rendering the Animation
Step 4: Receiving the Feedback
After submitting my animation, I received strict feedback from Professor Ting that:
“The updated version shows clear improvement in camera placement and movement readability.”
“You need to improve rotation control and understand Euler issues to prevent animation flipping.”
I reflected on this by studying rotation behaviour more carefully and applying corrections to stabilise movement. I focused on improving technical accuracy alongside animation clarity, ensuring smoother transitions between poses.
