In Week 05 of Advanced 3D Computer Animation, Professor Ting Liu asked me to continue the Heavy Object and Change of Mind assignment blocking plus phase. The session focused on refining early animation blocks into clearer physical storytelling. I worked further on the Ninja Turtle rig and expanded the movement of the character interacting with a heavy object. The aim was to improve weight perception and make the change of intention more readable through stronger poses and clearer timing.
I developed additional key poses to strengthen the lifting sequence and adjusted the staging to improve visual clarity. The animation still remained in a rough stage, but I focused on improving structure before refining details. Camera positioning also remained part of my workflow as I tested different angles to support readability of motion.
Step 1: Developing the Animation
Step 2: Rendering the Animation
Step 3: Receiving the Feedback
After submitting my animation, I received strict feedback from Professor Ting that:
“The animation still feels rough and needs stronger control over camera choice and staging.”
“The rig is breaking in certain poses and you need to manage deformation more carefully.”
“Give more attention to consistency and reference alignment.”
I reflected on this by recognising that blocking quality directly affects later animation stages. I focused on stabilising poses and improving consistency across movement transitions. This week helped me understand how early structural decisions influence final animation clarity.
