In Week 07 of Advanced 3D Computer Animation, Professor Nigel Mairs helped me understand the full research design process and how each part connects to my thesis. I studied how to structure a strong literature review by comparing different types such as systematic, narrative, and descriptive reviews. I learned that the aim is to synthesise sources and not list them. I also explored different research question formats such as exploratory, evaluative, and interpretive, and how each type shapes the direction of research.
I examined qualitative and quantitative methods and understood how data type, validity, and approach change depending on the method selected. I also learned how theoretical frameworks connect to methodology, which helps in building a stronger academic argument. This session helped me see how each stage, from question to method, needs to stay aligned.
