In WEEK 01 of Computer Animation Fundamentals, Professor Serra Ozdemir began by giving me a clear overview of the unit and how it connects with the larger animation pipeline. She wanted to make the class feel comfortable and interactive, so we started with a small activity where I had to introduce the person sitting next to me instead of myself. I talked to my classmate, learned about him, and then introduced him to everyone. I also drew a small portrait of him as part of the ice-breaker task.
After that, Professor Serra introduced me to the Unreal Engine software. She showed me how to log in through Epic Games Launcher, explained the FABS plugin, and described how assets can be managed and imported. She also talked about how my Weekly progress Blogs of my Final project for this unit will be a part of the marking system this term.
FINAL PROJECT (CONCEPT AND IDEATION)
The focus was on starting the planning phase for my final project. I was asked to think about a concept idea that I could develop throughout the semester. Since I am from Banaras, India, I decided to base my concept on the spiritual prayer offerings that take place every morning and evening in my hometown. This ritual is deeply rooted in culture and atmosphere, so I felt it would translate well visually. During this week, I started collecting mood boards that included color palettes, lighting references, and initial prop ideas that could support this spiritual environment.
